The PORSE Nanny Intern Programme
In recognition of the need for more career pathway opportunities to be made available for young people, PORSE Education & Training (NZ) Ltd offers a Nanny Intern Programme. It is specifically designed for young people looking at a career in early childhood education.
Careers in Early Childhood Education
The PORSE Nanny Intern Programme provides hands-on, authentic and practical experience in nurturing and educating children under five. It includes targeted and specific training in childcare skills and home management. Nanny interns can complete a nationally recognised qualification while gaining valuable experience in the care of children.
Become a Nanny Intern with PORSE:
- Study for your National Certificate in Early Childhood Education & Care (Level 3) for FREE, setting you up for a career in Early Childhood Education.
- Gain your First Aid Certificate for FREE.
- You will be teamed up with a Training Family for the duration of your internship.
The PORSE Nanny Intern Programme is available to young adults aged 17-25 who are prepared to work for a minimum of 21 hours per week, over a 20-week period, with at least one child under the age of six, in a home setting.
Nanny Intern Training Families
Training families are registered with PORSE and offer Nanny Interns the opportunity to live in or live out of their home while caring for their pre-school child or children. Families are an important part of a nannies learning, providing students with supervision, guidance and knowledge to support the learning of a Nanny Intern through practical, hands-on experience in a family home. In return for having nanny support, the family pays for the costs of the nanny’s training, and if it is a live-in position, will also provide room and board for the 20-week duration of the placement.
Your child/ren will benefit from the PORSE Programme, which includes individual learning plans, weekly activities such as PlaySchool, music and gym session, and monthly visits from a trained ECE teacher.
